Volunteer Approval Process (Level I & lI Volunteers)


                      Volunteer Approval Process (Level II Volunteers)

Step 1: Apply to Become a CPS Volunteer

All potential applicants must first complete the CPS Volunteer Application:

Applicants must apply as a Level II volunteer in order to participate in student field trips.

Step 2: Submit Identification for School-Level Approval

After submitting the volunteer application, applicants must email a copy of their State ID or Driver’s License to:

Once the school receives the ID, we will review and approve them at the school level.

Step 3: Complete Required Training (Level II Volunteers Only)

After school-level approval, volunteers will receive an email with instructions to complete the CPS training. Steps include:

  1. Visit: https://chicagopublicnondistrict-il.safeschools.com/login

  2. Click the “Register” button and use the vendor code: 83f02d45

  3. Complete the “CPS Parent Training” only

  4. Email the completion certificate to [email protected]


Volunteer Approval Process (Level I Volunteers)

Step 1: Apply to Become a CPS Volunteer

Step 2: Submit Identification for School Approval

After submitting your application, email a copy of your State ID or Driver’s License to:  [email protected] and [email protected] .The school will review and approve your application once ID is received.

Step 3: Complete a Fingerprint Background Check

A fingerprint background check is required every school year for Level I volunteers.

  • Print the Fingerprinting Background Investigation Authorization and Release Form.
  • Bring the printed form to any Accurate Biometrics location. The form ensures your results are routed to CPS.

Step 4: Complete a TB Test and Submit Results

A negative TB test is required and is valid for two years. You may submit: Existing negative results (less than two years old), or New test results from Concentra, your doctor, Walgreens, or CVS. You may use the CPS TB Test Form at your appointment.Accepted tests: Skin test, blood test, or X‑ray. Submit results to: [email protected]  

Step 5: Complete Required Volunteer Training.

 All volunteers must complete annual CPS training before volunteering.If courses don’t appear on your home page, search for them in Extra Training.Training only needs to be completed once per school year, even if you applied to multiple schools.

  2. PCC: Protecting Chicago’s Children SY26
